I grew up in central Michigan, Midland. From the time I was in the 2nd grade, I knew I was going to be a teacher. My K-4th grades were spent in a 2 room schoolhouse, and that's where I learned how to teach. I attended Central Michigan University, majored in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, with a minor in Spanish. I finished my Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling 4 years later. My first teaching job was in Alma, Michigan, teaching  3-6 grades physical education for one year, then moving on to the high school. I taught at Alma High School for 8 years. Then, I moved on to teach physical education at the American School Foundation of Monterey, Mexico for one year, then on to Houston Independent School District. There, I taught Occupational Orientation, and then Marketing Education. In 1999, I retired, at the age of 52.

A phoenix is a bird which rises from the ashes of a previous life. That's how I feel about myself, having risen from the remains of 31 years of teaching secondary education, and then 7 years of restful, boring retirement. I've got a lot of spunk still in me, so I'm giving the professional life another go. OneStroke Painting--I teach this painting technique made popular by Donna Dewberry, of the QVC and Home Shopping  Channel fame. I do this in my home town of San Miguel when I'm not traveling.
